Description
The OD Stone 8 is a 2-way floorstanding speaker designed by Focal for outdoor installation, in a garden, on a terrace or around a pool. It belongs to the Littora range, dedicated to sound systems for residential outdoor spaces.
The speaker combines a 20.3 cm woofer with Iris IP membrane and a 2.5 cm inverted aluminium dome tweeter, for a stated frequency response of 45 Hz to 28 kHz. Its sensitivity of 89 dB allows good performance with a moderate power amplifier, with recommended power ranging from 20 to 150 W under 8 ohms. A built-in transformer also makes it compatible with a 70/100 V line, allowing connection over long distances without power loss, useful for covering large outdoor areas. IP55 certification and anti-UV treatment protect the electronics and finishes from the weather, with a temperature tolerance ranging from -20° to 65°.
This model is aimed at those wishing to install a durable and discreet outdoor sound system, as a complement or extension to an existing hi-fi or multiroom system, on a terrace, around a pool or in a garden.
The textured rock-effect finish, available in several shades, along with the aluminium grille and integrated mounting loop, allow for discreet integration into different types of outdoor settings.

What to check before buying used
As the cabinet is intended to remain outdoors, it is worth checking the condition of the anti-UV treatment and the textured finish, which may fade or crack after several seasons of exposure. Also check the sealing around cable entries and fixings, as well as for any signs of moisture inside the cabinet, as IP55 certification can deteriorate as the seals age. The built-in transformer for the 100 V line is worth testing for proper operation, as is the Iris IP membrane of the woofer, which should be inspected for any deformation caused by temperature fluctuations.
