Description
The Focal Stellia is a closed-back circumaural headphone designed for demanding listening at home or on the move. Its closed-back design provides acoustic isolation from the outside environment, while delivering detailed sound reproduction thanks to a specific driver developed by Focal.
The 40 mm full-range driver uses an 'M'-shaped pure beryllium dome, paired with a 100% copper voice-coil without a former. This type of diaphragm, both lightweight and rigid, allows for an extended frequency response of 5 Hz to 40 kHz with harmonic distortion measured at 0.1% (1 kHz / 100 dB SPL), a guarantee of faithful sound reproduction across the entire spectrum. The 35 Ω impedance and sensitivity of 106 dB SPL / 1 mW at 1 kHz indicate headphones that are relatively easy to drive, compatible with a variety of sources.
The aluminium chassis, full-grain leather and Alcantara earpads, and the inner leather headband make up a construction geared towards comfort and durability. The headphones are made in France and weigh 435 g.
These headphones are aimed at listeners seeking high-end closed-back headphones for critical listening in a studio, quiet environment or while on the move, where acoustic isolation and reproduction precision are paramount.

What to check before buying used
The full-grain leather earpad and headband cushioning should be examined closely: they compress and crack over time, particularly if the headphones have been kept in a dry or warm environment. Also check the condition of the Alcantara finish, which is prone to grease marks and wear from skin contact. The driver's beryllium dome, very rigid but fragile if knocked, deserves a visual inspection to rule out any deformation or dents not visible to the naked eye. Finally, test both channels at moderate volume to detect any imbalance or crackling.
