Description
The Sub 1000F is an active subwoofer from Focal, designed to complement a home cinema system. Its sealed enclosure and 30 cm driver make it a self-contained bass source, designed to integrate easily into an existing system.
The woofer uses a Flax cone, a flax sandwich chosen by Focal for its tonal neutrality and its ability to deliver defined rather than blurred bass. Amplification is provided by a 1000 W BASH module built into the enclosure, tasked with driving this woofer with the power reserve needed to exploit its full potential. By nature, the sealed enclosure favours an extended bass response while limiting the air noise or resonance sometimes associated with bass-reflex speakers.
The frequency response spans 24 to 200 Hz (± 3 dB), and the crossover frequency is adjustable between 40 and 160 Hz, allowing the blend with the main speakers to be tailored to the room configuration and the rest of the system.
With dimensions of 420 × 400 × 420 mm for 21.5 kg, this subwoofer remains relatively compact given its 30 cm driver and amplification, which makes it easier to position in a living room or a dedicated home cinema space.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the Flax cone, which is sensitive to impact and humidity, as well as the proper functioning of the built-in BASH amplification, which can be subject to wear of the electronic components over time.
