Description
Theva N°1 is the compact bookshelf speaker in Focal's Theva range. It can be placed freely in a room or mounted on a dedicated stand, available as an option, whose tilt is designed to centre the soundstage on the listener.
This 2-way model combines a 16.5 cm midrange/woofer driver with a Slatefiber cone and a 2.5 cm inverted dome tweeter in aluminium-magnesium (TNF Al/Mg), with a crossover frequency set at 3000 Hz. The speaker is of bass-reflex type with a port located at the rear. Its frequency response extends from 58 Hz to 28 kHz (+- 3 dB), with a -6 dB response reaching down to 49 Hz. Its sensitivity of 89 dB (2.83V/1m) and nominal impedance of 8 ohms (4.6 ohms minimum) allow operation with amplifiers delivering from 25 W to 100 W.
Made in France, Theva N°1 stands out with an attached front baffle, black or wood finishes, metallised and screen-printed rings, and a magnetic grille. What to check before buying used
The magnetic fabric grilles may have lost their fixing or show signs of wear: check that they stay properly in place. Examine the Slatefiber cone of the midrange/woofer driver as well as the TNF tweeter dome for any deformation, denting or signs of impact. Also check the condition of the rear bass-reflex port and ensure there is no play or cracking in the cabinet, particularly around the attached front baffle.
