Focal Theva N°2

The Theva N°2 is a floorstanding speaker from Focal, recognisable by its particularly slim silhouette made possible by the use of 5-inch (13 cm) drivers, an unprecedented configuration on a floorstanding model from the brand. This narrow footprint makes it easier to integrate into living spaces where the bulk of a conventional floorstanding speaker is a problem.

The TNF tweeter, with an inverted Aluminium/Magnesium dome, is paired with Slatefiber cone drivers, all angled thanks to an inclined plinth ensuring time alignment of the transducers. This cone, a Focal exclusive manufactured in France, combines non-woven recycled carbon fibres with two layers of thermoplastic polymer, giving it rigidity, damping and lightness. The tweeter's suspension, made of shape-memory Poron and derived from the Utopia Beryllium tweeter, reduces distortion between 2000 Hz and 3000 Hz, a range to which the ear is particularly sensitive. With a stated frequency response of 53 Hz to 28 kHz (+/- 3 dB) and a roll-off to -6 dB from 44 Hz, the speaker covers a wide spectrum without neglecting the bass despite its compact format. Its sensitivity of 90 dB (2.83 V/1 m) and nominal impedance of 8 ohms (2.9 ohms minimum) make it compatible with amplifiers from 40 W to 200 W.

This floorstanding speaker is aimed at those seeking quality hi-fi listening in a cabinet or a room where space is limited, either in a stereo setup or as a complement to a Home Cinema system combining other models from the Theva range.
