Description
The Vestia N°2 is a 3-way bass-reflex floorstanding speaker designed and manufactured in Focal's French workshops. It combines two woofers, a midrange and an inverted dome tweeter, in an ensemble intended for hi-fi listening in a living room.
The Slatefiber cone, a Focal exclusive manufactured in France, is based on non-woven recycled carbon fibres oriented in the same direction, sandwiched between two layers of thermoplastic polymer: this structure aims to combine rigidity, damping and lightness. The TAM tweeter, with an inverted dome in aluminium/magnesium alloy and 'M' profile, reinforces the rigidity of the diaphragm to limit distortion and widen the dispersion angle. The speaker combines a front port, for impact, and a rear port, for the depth of the soundstage. The crossover frequencies are set at 270 Hz and 2700 Hz, with a frequency response from 45 Hz to 28 kHz (+/- 3 dB) and a sensitivity of 91.5 dB.

What to check before buying used
On this model, the front and rear ports of the bass-reflex profile must be kept free of any obstruction to maintain the balance of the bass response. Check the condition of the Slatefiber cones of the woofers and midrange, as well as the absence of play or parasitic noise on the inverted dome tweeter. A check of the connections and terminals is also worthwhile before returning the unit to service.
