Description
The Furutech Evolution II Digital RCA is a digital coaxial cable designed to connect a digital source (player, transport, DAC) via an S/PDIF link. It belongs to the Evolution series, positioned by Furutech as a more affordable variant of its Reference series, from which it retains certain construction principles without incorporating the GC-303 EMI absorber module.
The central conductor is made up of 37 α (Alpha) treated OCC strands, each 0.16 mm, giving a total diameter of 1.15 mm. This conductor is surrounded by a first insulation layer in HDPE with a diameter of 1.75 mm, then a second layer of aerated PE foam with a diameter of 5.5 mm. This dual polyethylene insulation aims to limit the cable's capacitance while improving mechanical damping, two parameters that affect the quality of the transmitted digital signal.
Shielding is provided by conductive wires, also α-treated, braided at 0.12 mm, bringing the diameter to 6.3 mm at this stage. The whole assembly is protected by an outer braided nylon jacket of approximately 9.5 mm diameter, which provides mechanical protection for the cable. It is available in a length of 1.2 m with a choice of Furutech FP-110(G) RCA or FP-3-117(R) BNC connectors.
This cable is aimed at digital hi-fi enthusiasts wishing to refine the link between a source and a converter, in a configuration where the choice of coaxial cable can influence the rendering of the transmitted signal.
