Description
The Furutech F63-S(G) is a mains connector intended for making or modifying power cables for audio and video installations. This type of component is fitted to the end of a mains lead to provide the connection between the wall socket or a mains distributor and the hi-fi equipment, replacing the standard connectors supplied as original equipment.
The main conductor combines an α (Alpha) gold plating with a base of phosphor bronze and copper alloy. The internal insulation is made of POM resin, an engineering plastic material recognised for its mechanical stability. The outer casing is made of SUS 304 stainless steel, a grade valued for its resistance to corrosion. The unit has a compact footprint of 9.5 x 45 mm.

What to check before buying used
The α gold plating on the pin and sleeve should remain clean, with no pitting or trace of oxidation that would indicate damp storage or repeated unplugging. Check that the tightening of the contact screws has not marked or weakened the conductors during a previous crimping, and that the SUS 304 body shows no impact damage or misaligned threading when inserted into a socket or cord. The POM resin insulation should remain rigid and free of cracks, particularly around the rear cable clamp.
