Description
The FI-E50NCF (R) is a Schuko-format mains connector designed by Furutech to fit power cables intended for demanding audio installations. It is fitted as a replacement or when making a bespoke mains cable, at the wall-plug end.
The internal conductor is made of alpha (α) treated pure copper, then rhodium-plated. This treatment and coating are intended to limit oxidation of the contact and ensure stable conduction over time. The connector body belongs to the Piezo Ceramic series: it combines ceramic nanoparticles, carbon powder, nylon and glass fibres, on an internal polycarbonate plate. This composite construction is designed to absorb mechanical vibrations that can affect the quality of the electrical contact. The outer finish combines polished stainless steel and carbon fibre, with the same damping objective.
The connector accepts cables with a diameter of between 6 and 20 mm, which covers most audiophile mains cables, including thick-sheathed models. The cable is secured by an amagnetic stainless steel collar, with stainless steel screws as well, in order to avoid any stray magnetic interference at the connection point.
This connector is intended for enthusiasts wishing to make or have made a dedicated mains cable for a source, an amplifier or any other hi-fi component, as part of an approach to optimising the system's power supply.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is advisable to check the condition of the cable collar's clamping and the absence of play in the internal plate, as well as the integrity of the stainless steel and carbon fibre finish, which is sensitive to knocks and scratches. Examining the rhodium-plated contact also allows you to ensure that there is no visible trace of oxidation or plating wear.
