Furutech Speaker Reference III

Description
The Speaker Reference III sits at the top of Furutech's cable range. It provides the link between the amplifier and the loudspeakers, that is, the stage that carries the already amplified signal, where the slightest external disturbance or parasitic resistance is passed directly into the sound reproduced by the speakers.
Its construction is built around an α (Alpha) OCC conductor, a copper with a continuous crystal structure used by the manufacturer across the whole of its high-end range, whether for interconnects, mains cables or digital links. This conductor is protected by double shielding, complemented by Formula GC-303 antimagnetic modules positioned around the cable. These modules are designed to absorb electromagnetic interference present around an installation, in order to preserve the finesse of the signal and the vigour of transients.
The care taken over termination follows the same logic: all connectors receive a rhodium plating, a metal chosen for the quality and long-term stability of the electrical contact it provides.
This cable is intended for installations where the electronics and speakers have already been carefully chosen, and where the link should no longer be a weak point. The bi-wire versions are aimed in particular at speakers fitted with two pairs of terminals, allowing the bass and treble sections to be fed separately from the same amplifier. It is available in a single-wire configuration as well as in bi-wire versions marked BW.

What to check before buying used
On a power cable, it is worth checking for the absence of marked kinks or bends at the entry to the connectors, an area where the strands of the α (Alpha) OCC conductor can suffer micro-fractures with use. The rhodium plating on the plugs should remain clean, with no trace of oxidation or impact that would compromise contact with the speaker terminals. On BW versions, ensure that both pairs of connectors are complete and matched, a necessary condition for a functioning bi-wire connection.
