Description
The Furutech Odéon-E is a mains power cable designed to connect an audio or video device to the electrical supply while limiting losses and disturbances associated with current transmission. It is intended for components in a home cinema or hi-fi system: CD, DVD, Blu-ray players, projectors and flat screens, whose power supply directly affects the quality of the reproduced signal.
Its structure is based on two 37-strand silver-plated OFC conductors of 0.26 mm combined with a 37-strand α-OFC conductor of the same diameter, a combination of materials intended to optimise current conduction. The audio-grade polyethylene insulation, with an outer diameter of approximately 3.5 mm, aims to reduce the cable's stray capacitance, while a cotton inner filler and a paper tape barrier layer complete the internal construction.
The audio-grade flexible PVC sheath, RoHS compliant, measures approximately 10.0 mm in diameter and helps insulate against mechanical vibration. A black nylon braid outer sheath, approximately 10.8 mm in diameter, protects the whole cable along its length, which measures approximately 180 cm.
This cable is suitable for users wishing to take care of the power supply to their audio or video installation, particularly when the connected device has a compact IEC connector, notably on certain premium projectors and HD screens.

What to check before buying used
Check for the absence of pronounced kinks or repeated creases in the sheath, which can weaken the internal conductors despite the protective nylon braid. Check the condition of the mains plugs: pins not pitted, no trace of oxidation and no play in the connectors, indicating optimal contact. Excessive tightening with cable ties or storage coiled too tightly can also deform the PVC sheath over time.
