Fyne Audio F501S

The F501S is a 2.5-way floorstanding speaker from Fyne Audio, designed to take centre stage in a hi-fi or home cinema system. It combines a 150 mm IsoFlare bass/midrange driver, a 25 mm magnesium dome tweeter and a second dedicated 150 mm woofer, for balanced sound reproduction across the entire spectrum.

The system relies on a downward-firing port fitted with the BassTrax Tractrix diffuser, a design intended to distribute bass evenly around the speaker rather than concentrating it in a single direction. This approach, in theory, reduces the sensitivity of bass response to exact positioning within the room. Frequency response extends from 36 Hz to 34 kHz, with a crossover splitting the drivers at 250 Hz and 1.7 kHz (2nd order low-pass, 1st order high-pass). A presence control allows the midrange level to be adjusted over a range of +/- 3 dB between 2.5 and 5 kHz, offering scope to adapt to room acoustics or listener preference.
