Description
The Vintage Five is a compact two-way bookshelf speaker, designed to fit into small or medium-sized rooms without compromising on structured sound. It carries forward the architecture of Fyne Audio's Vintage range in a reduced format, with a downward-facing BassTrax port fitted with a Tractrix diffuser.
The 125 mm bass-mid driver combines an IsoFlare point source design, a multi-fibre cone and a FyneFlute surround. It is paired with a 19 mm magnesium dome compression tweeter fitted with a neodymium magnet system, with a crossover frequency set at 1.9 kHz. The passive, single-wired, low-loss crossover combines a second-order low-pass filter with a first-order high-pass filter; it undergoes deep cryogenic treatment intended to reduce losses in the components. A presence control operates between 2.5 kHz and 5.0 kHz, with an adjustment range of +/- 3 dB, to fine-tune the sound according to the room's acoustics.
With a sensitivity of 87 dB and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, the Vintage Five accepts amplifiers delivering between 30 and 100 watts RMS recommended, with a continuous power handling of 50 watts RMS and a maximum power handling of 200 watts. The frequency response extends from 46 Hz to 38 kHz (-6 dB typical in-room).
