Description
The PC-3 SE Evo+ is a mains conditioner from GigaWatt, designed to filter and distribute the electrical supply to an audio system. It is placed upstream of the various components of a hi-fi chain to provide them with a more stable and less polluted current than that of the raw mains supply.
The unit incorporates separate output transformers, including a 1000 VA transformer, as well as a pair of high-current outputs capable of delivering up to 3500 VA. The six Schuko 16 A mains inlets are divided into three distinct groups: two digital outputs, two analogue outputs and two high-current outputs, allowing power supplies to be separated according to the nature of the equipment connected. All Schuko sockets are reversible and fitted with cryogenically treated silver contacts. Filtering relies on several passive stages, with RLC filtering blocks, a built-in DC Blocker circuit and 30 mm² silver-plated copper conductive bars, while triple electromagnetic shielding aims to reduce residual noise levels. The power switch is a Carling Tech hydraulic-magnetic model built to a specific set of requirements.
Mechanically, the chassis is built from steel and aluminium, with an aircraft-grade anodised aluminium front panel, anti-vibration aluminium feet and a bitumen and polymer damping plate bonded to the chassis. An incoming voltage display is built into the front panel, alongside polarity and earth indicators, as well as child-safety protections on each socket.
This conditioner is aimed at hi-fi systems comprising several sources and amplifiers, where certain sensitive equipment needs to be isolated from disturbances generated by other devices on the same circuit. Its maximum output power of 3680 W and maximum current of 16 A allow it to power a complete system, including digital sources and power components.

What to check before buying used
The Carling Tech hydraulic-magnetic switch should engage firmly, without hesitation or unusual noise: an unexpected trip or a stiff action indicates wear of the mechanism. Also check the condition of the cryogenically treated silver contacts on the six Schuko sockets, which should remain firm and free of oxidation, as well as the cleanliness of the silver-plated copper conductive bars inside the chassis. An unusually low weight or the sound of a loose part when moving the unit may indicate a transformer or RLC filtering block that has come loose from its mounting.
