GigaWatt PF-1 EVO

The PF-1 EVO power strip stands out above all for its internal wiring: it uses GigaWatt's proprietary Powerlink OFHC copper cable, with a cross-section of 4 mm². This model occupies a particular place in the GigaWatt range, combining robust construction and a carefully finished build with a markedly positive influence on sound quality. The components used in its manufacture are of high quality: distortion is treated by an RLC filtering block, combining low-inductance metallised polyester capacitors with an iron powder (IP) filter core. All filter elements are silver-soldered onto a substantial printed circuit board fitted with wide-section tracks.

As for electrical protection, conventional devices such as thermal wires or fuses, which can restrict current flow to the protected circuits and thus impair sound quality, have been dispensed with. The power strip instead relies on a multi-stage protection circuit combining plasma spark gaps and new-generation UltraMOV varistors, complemented by a modern, well-designed electrical network, providing comprehensive protection against overcurrents and overvoltages.

Current distribution relies on a proprietary system, exclusive to the company, based on second-generation solid busbars made from high-purity polished cathode copper (Cu-ETP). Current is fed directly to each pair of sockets via crimped and screwed connections, along with GigaWatt PowerLink OFHC copper wiring, using 4 wires of QMM cross-section each. Thanks to a star wiring topology and a substantial cross-section of approximately 30 QMM per bar, power is distributed evenly and stably, regardless of the load applied to any given output.

The power strip incorporates six GigaWatt G-040 Schuko sockets, developed and produced by the brand. Their brass connectors receive a silver plating applied directly at the factory, without the use of intermediate metals such as copper or nickel, which would introduce unwanted series resistance and voltage drop. The enlarged contact surface and the thickness of the silver layer ensure reliable contact with the plug pins. The sockets also undergo cryogenic treatment and demagnetisation. They feature integrated shutters against accidental contact, compliant with VDE 0620. The PF-1 EVO is also available in versions fitted with NEMA 5-20R sockets (North America and certain Asian countries) and Australian AS/NZS 3112 sockets.
