Description
The PowerSync ULTRA is a mains cable designed for advanced audio systems. It is intended to power directly a mains distribution block or conditioner to which the entire installation is connected, with a gauge suited to current-hungry equipment.
The conductors are made of 99.997% pure copper (OFHC C10100, 5N), annealed to achieve a uniform structure and improved conductance. The cable adopts an 8 x 1.5 mm² wire design, with each wire made up of 7 tightly twisted strands, reducing inductance while maintaining favourable self-capacitance. All conductors are enclosed in a static shield of laminated aluminium foil covering 100% of the cable's surface, complemented by an external antistatic braid, to limit EMI/RFI interference and static charge build-up. The wires are further covered with an elastic material designed to dampen vibrations caused by the electromagnetic field.
The mains plugs, housed in a compact aluminium casing, feature solid rhodium-plated brass connectors, cryogenically treated and demagnetised. The conductors are connected without solder, using bolted connections, to reduce impedance and ensure long-term reliability.
This cable is aimed at high-end hi-fi systems where the power supply is regarded as a component in its own right within the chain, particularly for powering mains distribution blocks or conditioners serving the entire system.

What to check before buying used
With this type of high-end mains cable, the main point of inspection is the plugs: check that the aluminium casing is not cracked and that the rhodium-plated brass pins show no signs of impact or deformation. Also check the firmness of the bolted connections inside the plugs, a sensitive point on cables that have seen frequent use. The external sheath and antistatic braid should also be visually inspected to rule out any cuts or crushing along the cable.
