Description
The PA-10 Evo is a power amplifier designed by Gold Note to complement a high-end audio system. Unlike an integrated amplifier, it has no preamplification stage of its own and is intended to receive the signal from a preamplifier or a source fitted with a line-level output, in order to then deliver the power required by the loudspeakers.
This amplifier can operate in classic stereo mode or in bridged mono mode (Bridge-Tied-Load), which significantly increases the available power: the PA-10 Evo delivers 2x 150 W into 4 ohms in stereo, compared with 600 W into 4 ohms when used in mono. This switching allows the unit to be matched to more demanding speakers without changing equipment. The adjustable damping factor is another technical advantage: it allows the control exerted by the amplifier over the movement of the drivers to be fine-tuned, a useful feature for pairing with both high-sensitivity speakers and mini-monitors. With a frequency response of 10 Hz to 30 kHz, a total harmonic distortion of 0.05% and an input sensitivity of 1.4 Vrms, the unit displays specifications consistent with demanding hi-fi use.
The PA-10 Evo is aimed at hi-fi enthusiasts looking to develop their system towards a separate preamp/power amp configuration, with the option of pairing several units via GN Link technology for master-slave operation, or setting up a multi-room installation thanks to the stereo XLR output and the automatic On/Standby mode triggered by the audio signal.

What to check before buying used
On a power amplifier of this compact size, ventilation and thermal management deserve particular attention after several years of use, especially if the unit has operated in mono mode at high power. It is worth checking that the automatic On/Standby mode triggered by the audio signal works correctly, as well as the condition of the RCA and XLR connectors after repeated connection and disconnection cycles. Testing in both stereo and mono configurations helps to confirm that switching between the two modes works properly.
