Description
The T-5 is a belt-drive turntable from Gold Note, designed to offer a compact format without sacrificing the design rigour typical of the manufacturer. It is supplied with the B-5.2 tonearm and a removable transparent acrylic dust cover.
The platter, made of 15 mm thick ultra-clear glass, combines density and structure to reproduce the details contained in the groove while limiting background noise; it rests on an inverted bearing that promotes stability and friction-free rotation. The plinth, made of 23 mm HDF, has been lightened at strategic points around the motor, the bearing and the edges in order to break up the propagation of vibrations and limit resonance. The 12V synchronous motor drives the platter at 33⅓ and 45 rpm, with manual speed change by moving the belt on the pulley. The wow & flutter (0.3%) and rumble (-72 dB) figures reflect steady rotation and low mechanical noise.

What to check before buying used
The drive belt is the element to check first on this turntable: it stretches over time and must retain its elasticity to ensure a stable speed. The platter's inverted bearing also warrants a rotation check, as excessive play results in background noise or speed variations. Also check the condition of the B-5.2 tonearm and its cartridge, as well as the presence and fit of the originally supplied acrylic dust cover.
