Description
The Triton Five is a floorstanding speaker from the GoldenEar Triton range, positioned above the Seven model and benefiting from advances developed for the Triton One. It is designed to integrate equally well into a high-resolution stereo system or a multichannel home cinema installation.
The cabinet adopts a shape designed for acoustics: a narrow front baffle and a tapered rear profile align the driver array to direct sound towards the listening position, while the non-parallel side walls and angled top limit internal standing waves. The speaker pairs a high-velocity folded ribbon tweeter (HVFR) with two 6-inch midrange/woofer drivers mounted in a D'Appolito configuration, complemented by passive bass radiators placed on each side of the cabinet, near the floor, to encourage coupling with the room.

What to check before buying used
On this model, the passive bass radiators located on each side of the cabinet are worth checking: their suspension should remain supple and free of tears. Also check the folded ribbon tweeter, which is more fragile than a conventional dome, by listening for any distortion in the treble, as well as the general condition of the two 6-inch midrange/woofer drivers.
