Description
The GoldenEar Triton One R is a semi-active 3-way floorstanding speaker that pairs a passive section for the treble and midrange with an integrated active subwoofer section. It thus combines a tweeter, two midrange drivers, and a set of woofers driven by an onboard amplifier, all within a single floorstanding cabinet.
The HVFR (High-Velocity Folded Ribbon, 27 × 33 mm) tweeter is a folded ribbon designed to deliver treble with an extended response up to 35 kHz. The two 13.3 cm midrange drivers handle the midrange frequencies alongside this tweeter. Bass is handled by three active 5-in × 9-in woofers, powered by a built-in 1,600 W Class D amplifier, supported by four 17.8 × 25.4 cm planar passive radiators that boost output at the low end of the spectrum without placing any additional demand on an external amplifier. The stated frequency response spans 13 Hz to 35 kHz, with a sensitivity of 92 dB/W/m and 8 Ω compatibility for the passive section.

What to check before buying used
The planar passive radiators and their suspension warrant a careful visual inspection, as sagging or tearing affects bass reproduction. The Class D amplifier built into the active woofers should be tested during extended operation to rule out any risk of overheating or thermal shutdown.
