Grado EPOCH-3

The Epoch3 is a moving magnet (MM) cartridge from Grado, designed to be fitted to a turntable tonearm. It forms part of the Lineage series, which brings together the American brand's know-how developed since 1953, and benefits from the techniques introduced by the Epoch3 and Aeon3 models.

The cartridge body is made of jarrah wood, inside which sits a generator/magnet module enabling a dual-magnet system, intended to reduce the chassis's resonance frequencies. The diamond is mounted on a bore cantilever and cut to precise specifications to accurately follow the vinyl grooves. The generating system relies on a particularly light effective moving coil, designed to improve groove tracking. Four reconfigured coils, resulting from recent winding techniques combined with older methods, aim for precise channel balance and a coherent stereo image. Four-step shielding isolates the coil wire windings to provide a clear signal path.

This cartridge is aimed at vinyl enthusiasts equipped with a quality turntable and tonearm, seeking accurate sound reproduction across the whole spectrum, from treble to bass, with particular attention paid to the stereo image. It finds its place within an already carefully assembled hi-fi system, where the cartridge is the decisive link in the sound reproduction.
