Description
The Hana MH is a high-output moving coil (MC) cartridge, designed to be fitted to a turntable's tonearm. It belongs to the brand's M series, positioned at the top of the range, and is also available in a low-output version under the reference Hana ML.
The diamond is a full Nude MicroLine type, a shape derived from the cutting stylus used to engrave the pressing master. This profile is designed to precisely follow the grooves of the vinyl record. It is mounted at the tip of an aluminium cantilever. The coils are made of pure 4N (99.99%) copper and paired with Alnico-type magnets; the satin black Delrin (P.O.M.) body is coloured throughout. The output level is 2mV at 1kHz, with a coil impedance of 130 Ohms and a recommended load of 47 kOhms. The frequency response spans from 12 Hz to 45,000 Hz, with channel separation of 30dB at 1kHz.
The recommended tracking force is 2g, giving a tracking ability of 70µm at this tracking force. Compliance is 16 x 10⁻⁶ cm/dyne at 10 Hz and 10 x 10⁻⁶ cm/dyne at 100 Hz.
This cartridge is aimed at vinyl enthusiasts with an already accomplished hi-fi system, featuring a compatible tonearm and a phono preamplifier suited to a high-output MC signal. Its versatility allows it to be integrated with the vast majority of tonearms and phono preamplifiers on the market.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the diamond stylus and cantilever, two elements particularly sensitive to shocks and to wear linked to the number of hours of use. The MicroLine stylus shape, while offering good longevity compared with other tip sizes, remains an essential point to check: a worn or misaligned tip degrades playback and can damage records. It is also worth verifying that the tracking force has been correctly set to the recommended value of 2g throughout the cartridge's life.
