What to check before buying used
The volume potentiometer deserves a test across its full range: crackling or jerky operation indicates a dirty resistive track, sometimes easy to clean, sometimes a sign that replacement will be needed. The capacitors in the power supply stage age over time and can lose capacitance, resulting in softer bass or a slight hum when listening. Also check that the network streaming module is still receiving updates from the manufacturer, as some protocols evolve faster than the firmware of older amplifiers.
