Description
The MiniSub Axis is a mains cable from Isol8, designed to power hifi or home cinema components by filtering certain disturbances present on the domestic electrical network. It forms part of the brand's MiniSub range, alongside the Wave model whose base it shares.
Its distinctive feature lies in the integration of the Axis DC circuit, a dedicated electronic block whose function is to stop any DC current offset that may be present on the mains supply. This residual DC current phenomenon is common on the electrical network and can affect the operation of certain devices, particularly the toroidal transformers found in many amplifiers, where it sometimes results in humming or premature saturation.

What to check before buying used
The Axis DC circuit integrated into the cable is an active electronic block: check that it shows no trace of impact or overheating on its housing, as a damaged component loses its ability to block residual DC current without this being otherwise visible. Also check the mains and IEC plugs at both ends, whose contacts can oxidise or loosen with repeated unplugging, as well as the continuity of the sheath along its full length to rule out any pinching or early signs of internal breakage.
