Description
The Diapason Luxe is a tube integrated amplifier designed by the French firm Jadis, manufactured in Saint-Maur. It combines the preamplification stage and the power stage, both tube-based, within a single chassis, to drive a pair of speakers directly without any additional separate electronics.

What to check before buying used
The preamplification tube and the two power 6L6 tubes are consumables to check: listen for hum, hiss or asymmetric operation between the two channels, a sign of a worn or mismatched tube. The coupling and filter capacitors, sensitive to age, deserve inspection if the amplifier has seen little use in recent years, as does the correct seating of the tubes in their sockets after transport. Also test the volume and balance potentiometers, whose tracks may crackle if oxidised, and if the optional USB input is present, make sure it is properly recognised by a source.
