Description
The Jadis DPMC MKII is a tube phono preamplifier designed for both moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC) cartridges. It allows a quality phono input to be added to a system that lacks one, enabling a turntable to be connected to an amplifier without a dedicated phono stage.
Built around four ECC83 tubes for the preamplification and RIAA correction functions, it also features a tube-regulated power supply for improved operating stability. The MKII version stands out for its ability to select the input impedance from four values: 48 kΩ, 1 kΩ, 300 Ω and 100 Ω, allowing precise matching to the electrical characteristics of the cartridge used. An output level control potentiometer is also fitted, the unit also being available without this volume knob.
This preamplifier is aimed at vinyl enthusiasts wishing to add a well-built tube phono stage to an existing system, with the ability to finely adjust the matching to their MM or MC cartridge.

What to check before buying used
On a tube preamplifier of this type, check the condition of the four ECC83 tubes as well as the EL84 and EF86, whose wear or microphonics can cause hiss or unwanted noise. Also check the operation of the output potentiometer, which may develop crackling over time, as well as the secure mechanical seating of the tubes in their sockets following transport.
