Description
The Jadis I50 is a valve integrated amplifier, designed by the French manufacturer to work specifically with KT150 power tubes. It combines a preamplification stage and a power stage in a single chassis, with the option of connecting it directly to a computer via its USB digital input.
Its power stage delivers 50 W per channel in pure Class A, an operating mode in which the tubes conduct continuously across the entire signal, favouring linearity and tonal quality at the expense of energy efficiency. The valve stage relies on four KT150 tubes, two ECC83 and three ECC82, a combination specific to this model. Frequency response extends from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. In terms of connectivity, the unit offers five stereo RCA line inputs for connecting standard analogue sources, as well as a USB-B digital input for a direct link to a computer.
Weighing 32 kg with dimensions of 485 x 345 x 245 mm, the I50 is aimed at enthusiasts with a sufficiently sturdy cabinet or support and speakers suited to Class A amplification. What to check before buying used
On a valve amplifier of this power running in Class A, the KT150 tubes are used continuously and their wear, matching and manufacture or last replacement date deserve checking. The ECC83 and ECC82 tubes in the preamplification stage should also be tested, as a worn tube can cause hum, background noise or a loss of dynamics. Extended Class A operation generates significant heat: it is worth ensuring that the chassis and output transformers have not suffered from insufficient ventilation over time.
