Description
The JBL Cinema 610 is a 5.1 home cinema speaker set designed to be connected to a home cinema amplifier. It comprises four satellites, a centre speaker and an active subwoofer, forming a complete system intended for reproducing dialogue and sound effects when watching films or listening to music.
The satellites are 2-way designs, with a 75 mm midrange driver paired with a 32 mm tweeter: this separation of frequencies aims for better definition in the upper part of the spectrum. The active subwoofer houses a 20 cm downward-firing woofer along with a built-in 60 W amplifier, removing the need to power the bass separately from the home cinema amplifier.
This pack is aimed at those wishing to equip a living room or a modestly sized room with a complete surround system, without the need to source separate speakers. The compact size of the satellites and the supplied wall-mounting brackets make integration easier in a space where floor space needs to remain limited.

What to check before buying used
On the satellites, check the condition of the 75 mm midrange and 32 mm tweeter diaphragms as well as the sturdiness of the supplied wall-mounting brackets, which are often weakened by poorly fitted screws. The active subwoofer deserves an extended test: listen for any hum, thermal cut-out or distortion from the 60 W built-in amplifier on the 20 cm woofer at high volume. Also check that the supplied cables and their connectors have not been swapped out or damaged through repeated connection.
