Description
The JBL E150P is an active subwoofer belonging to the Northridge range. It features its own built-in amplifier and is designed to reinforce the bass of a home cinema or stereo setup, complementing main speakers whose frequency response stops above deep bass.
The 25 cm driver with PolyPlas cone is paired with a 150 W RMS built-in amplifier, capable of delivering up to 250 W peak. The bass-reflex port uses JBL's FreeFlow technology, designed to limit air turbulence noise even as the volume increases. The frequency response extends from 27 Hz to 150 Hz, covering the bass and low-midrange register. The low-pass filter is continuously adjustable between 50 and 150 Hz, allowing the crossover point to be set according to the associated speakers, while a fixed 150 Hz high-pass filter protects the speaker outputs.
This subwoofer is intended for domestic use, complementing a home cinema system or stereo setup, to add bass weight without requiring a dedicated external power amplifier. The line inputs (LFE) make it compatible with an AV receiver equipped with a subwoofer output, and the high-level terminals also allow direct connection from a conventional stereo amplifier.

What to check before buying used
Check the operation of the FreeFlow port: a hissing or friction noise at high volume may indicate a damaged flare. Check the built-in amplifier (no thermal protection shutdown, no hum at idle) and test the low-pass filter potentiometer through its full range to rule out any crackling. Finally, inspect the 25 cm PolyPlas cone for sagging or tearing, and make sure the high-level terminals are not corroded.
