Description
The JBL JS80 are floor stands designed to hold a bookshelf speaker and bring it to the ideal listening height. Designed by JBL to accompany the L82 MKII, they form a stable metal base that replaces a piece of furniture or a shelf and frees the speaker from any vibration transmitted by an unsuitable support.
The structure has a height of 462mm for a base of 330 x 360mm, with a speaker platform of 254mm in width. This platform matches the size of compact bookshelf speakers and ensures a clean fit, without overhang or play. The stands feature a 7° tilt, which angles the speaker slightly upwards to direct the sound towards the seated listener, rather than letting it pass over their head.
With a weight of 1.2kg per stand, the set remains light to handle while offering a wide base that limits the risk of tipping once the speaker is installed.

What to check before buying used
Check the tightness and absence of play at the platform holding the speaker: loose fixings or worn threaded inserts affect stability and reintroduce parasitic vibrations. Inspect the column for any deformation or impact that may have altered the 7° tilt, which should remain identical on both stands. Also check the condition of the floor pads or spikes, often missing or worn on a used unit, as well as the paint on the metal uprights for signs of corrosion or impact marks.
