Description
The L100 Classic Anniversary Edition is a 3-way bass-reflex bookshelf speaker with front-firing port, produced by JBL to mark its 80th anniversary. This special series is distinguished by an oak-veneered cabinet, a foam Quadrex grille in a unique brown colour, and edition-specific branding, unlike the standard L100 Classic versions, which offer several grille colours.
The acoustic configuration pairs a 25 mm titanium dome tweeter (JT025TI2-4), a 125 mm cellulose pulp cone midrange (JM125PC-8) and a 300 mm woofer, also in pure cellulose pulp (JW300SW-8). The crossover frequencies are set at 450 Hz and 3,500 Hz. The 90 dB sensitivity and 4 ohm impedance indicate a speaker that can be paired with moderately powered amplifiers, with a stated bandwidth of 40 Hz to 40,000 Hz at minus 6 dB. Maximum power handling is 200 W RMS. Attenuators allow separate adjustment of midrange and treble levels, and the connectivity provides two pairs of terminals compatible with banana plugs, bare wire and spade connectors, for bi-wiring or bi-amping use.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the Quadrex foam grilles, a material prone to ageing and deformation over time. The integrity of the 300 mm woofer and the cellulose pulp midrange deserves particular attention, as does the proper operation of the midrange and treble level attenuators, potentiometers that can oxidise with use.
