Description
The L100 MKII Classic is a 3-way floorstanding speaker of the studio monitor type, designed with a front-firing bass-reflex architecture. This front-mounted port positioning makes installation easier, including close to a rear wall, without requiring significant clearance behind the cabinet.
The speaker system comprises a 25 mm titanium dome tweeter mounted in a circular horn throat, a 125 mm midrange with a cellulose pulp cone, and a 300 mm woofer also in pure cellulose pulp. The crossover points, set at 450 Hz and 3,500 Hz, divide the work between these three drivers. The stated frequency response spans 40 Hz to 40,000 Hz at -6 dB, with a sensitivity of 90 dB and an impedance of 4 ohms: figures that indicate high efficiency, allowing a substantial sound level to be achieved with a modest power amplifier. The maximum handling power is 200 W RMS.

What to check before buying used
The surrounds of the 300 mm woofer, in pure cellulose pulp, deserve close inspection: sagging, tearing or a crude repair indicates a worn example. Also check the condition of the titanium tweeter dome and the midrange cone, which are prone to dents and deformation, as well as the operation of the front-firing port. Due to the weight and floorstanding format of this speaker, the cabinet often shows knocks on the edges or lifted veneer from repeated handling.
