Description
The JBL MA710 is a 7.2-channel audio video amplifier designed to drive a complete home cinema setup, combining speaker amplification with management of modern video sources. It features native Dolby Atmos and DTS:X decoding as well as 8K HDMI compatibility, allowing you to connect a television, games console or projector via six HDMI inputs and one HDMI output equipped with eARC.
The amplification relies on seven Class D channels, with a rated power of 110 W RMS into 8 Ω and 160 W RMS into 4 Ω (measured at 1 kHz, two channels driven, 0.5% THD maximum). The MA710 also includes a moving magnet (MM) phono input for connecting a turntable directly without an external preamplifier, as well as a 24-bit / 192 kHz DAC. The connectivity includes three HDMI 2.1 inputs, three HDMI 2.0 inputs, one HDMI eARC output, two RCA inputs, one RCA phono input, one optical input, one coaxial input and two subwoofer outputs.
Streaming is handled natively via AirPlay 2, Google Chromecast and Bluetooth aptX Adaptive, without requiring an additional streaming device. The unit also offers second zone audio distribution and IP control for integration with third-party home automation systems, in addition to the physical controls.
This model is aimed at those who want to centralise on a single unit the amplification of a 7.2 home cinema configuration, the connection of several recent HDMI sources and listening to streamed music or a turntable, without multiplying the number of separate units.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is advisable to check that each HDMI input and output works correctly, particularly the eARC function and HDMI 2.1 compatibility for 8K use, as well as the behaviour of the MM phono input, which is more sensitive to interference if the RCA connectors are worn. It is also worth testing the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connection for streaming, as well as the EZ Set EQ calibration memory, which may require resetting after a long period of disuse.
