Description
The JBL Ti2000 is a 3-way floorstanding speaker with bass-reflex loading, designed in 1994. It belongs to that generation of JBL speakers from the 1990s which combined specific diaphragms with careful finishes, in a floorstanding format intended to fit into a living room or a dedicated listening room.
The woofer measures 210 mm and uses an aquaplas cone, a diaphragm treatment specific to this era of JBL, said to deliver bass that is both powerful and controlled. The midrange, in polypropylene, measures 130 mm and takes over up to the 25 mm titanium dome tweeter, a material known for its rigidity and its ability to reproduce a precise and detailed treble. The crossover splits the frequencies at 300 Hz and 3,000 Hz. With a sensitivity of 89 dB and an impedance of 4 Ω, the Ti2000 accepts a maximum power of 200 W, for a stated frequency response of 75 Hz to 20 kHz.

What to check before buying used
When buying used, attention should be paid to the condition of the woofer's aquaplas cone, a material that can harden, crack or lose its flexibility over time, affecting bass reproduction. The titanium dome tweeter should be visually checked for any dents or deformation. It is also advisable to check the condition of the woofer's foam or fabric surround, which is often prone to wear on speakers of this age, as well as the proper functioning of the crossover and the absence of any unwanted noise when listening.
