Description
The Jolida JD100 MKII Pro is a valve CD player that combines a Top Loading transport mechanism with a Sabre digital-to-analogue converter. It can play a CD directly or serve as a digital transport to feed an external DAC, thanks to its dedicated digital outputs.
Its output stage relies on three valves, two 12AU7 and one 6922, the latter having been added to refine the rendering and limit sound artefacts. Top Loading of the disc, with a puck clamp, reduces the mechanical vibrations that affect playback over time and contributes to the stability of the extracted signal. In terms of measurements, the unit offers a frequency response of 10 Hz to 20 kHz, a total harmonic distortion of 0.01 % at 1 kHz, a signal-to-noise ratio of 100 dB and crosstalk of 96 dB, for an output voltage of 2.5 V.
Its connectivity covers the needs of both analogue and digital setups: stereo RCA output, balanced XLR output, as well as optical and coaxial digital outputs allowing its own converter to be bypassed in favour of an external DAC.

What to check before buying used
The 12AU7 and 6922 valves are wear items that should be checked by listening: microphonics, background noise or a loss of dynamics indicate that replacement may be needed. The Top Loading mechanism and its puck clamp are worth checking for correct disc centring and the absence of excessive play. Testing the optical reading unit with older burnt CDs helps confirm that it still reads without errors or skips.
