Description
The DLA-NZ9 is a dedicated-room video projector built around three 0.69-inch 4K D-ILA chips and a BLU-Escent laser light source. Its proprietary e-shiftX technology brings display resolution up to 8K, while the electronics accept 8K/60p and 4K/120p input signals. An upscaling circuit brings any source, from streaming feeds to UHD discs, up to this output resolution.
The optical block is an all-glass 100 mm lens built from 18 elements arranged in 16 groups, housed in an aluminium barrel. Five ED lenses are individually calibrated according to red, green and blue refractive indices, which limits chromatic aberration and colour fringing, even under heavy lens shift use. The stated specifications are as follows:
- Brightness: 3000 ANSI Lumens, enough to drive a very large image base
- Native contrast: 100,000:1, guaranteeing deep blacks in a darkened room
- Throw ratio: 1.35 - 2.75 : 1, offering considerable placement flexibility

On the HDR side, the unit supports HDR10, HLG and HDR10+ with its dynamic metadata, in addition to Frame Adapt HDR tone mapping, which analyses peak content brightness frame by frame. The D-ILA chip runs at double speed for an equivalent 120 to 240 Hz display, and the new optical path eliminates stray light reflections back onto the screen.
At 25.3 Kg and measuring 500 x 234 x 528 mm, this model is intended for fixed installations: a treated projection room, reinforced ceiling or dedicated shelf, a large-width screen and a video chain capable of delivering high bitrates. This is a choice for the equipped cinephile seeking native contrast and maximum resolution rather than a versatile living-room projector.

What to check before buying used
The first step is to ask for the cumulative hours on the laser source: with no lamp to replace, it is the diode's ageing that gradually lowers brightness and can cause white balance to drift. Have a uniform test pattern projected to spot internal dust, marks on the optical path or any panel discolouration, then check the convergence of the three D-ILA chips, which is adjustable but can reveal a knock in transit. Test the zoom, focus and lens shift motors across their full range, along with every video input using a high-bitrate source, as the HDMI stages are the most heavily used on this type of unit. Finally, the unit weighs 25.3 Kg: check the condition of the mounting points and the integrity of the chassis if the unit has been ceiling-mounted.
