The LX-NZ30 is a home cinema projector from JVC, combining 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160p) with a BLU-Escent laser light source. It is aimed at those who wish to install a large screen at home, for film viewing as well as gaming, without depending on a traditional lamp that needs regular replacement.
Its BLU-Escent laser source delivers a brightness of 3300 lumens with a stated lifespan of 20000 hours in standard mode, which limits long-term maintenance requirements. The 0.47-inch DMD chip combined with HDR10 and HLG compatibility, including Auto Tone Mapping, aims to produce a detailed and contrasted image. The 1.6x optical zoom (f 14.3-22.9 mm, F1.809) and the very generous lens shift range (±60% vertical, ±23% horizontal) make installation easier in rooms with varying constraints, for a projected image of 60 to 200 inches diagonal, or 1.5 to 5 metres. In terms of connectivity, the unit features two HDMI 2.0 inputs, a DisplayPort input, a USB type C input compatible with DP Alt Mode, a powered USB type A output, an RJ45 LAN port, an RS-232 port and a 12V trigger output. For gaming, low latency mode reaches 6.25 ms, with support for 4K/60p and 2K/240p signals. Fan noise level is stated at 34 dB in normal mode and 29 dB in Eco mode.
This projector suits demanding home cinema use, in a dedicated room or a living room where a large image is desired without excessive installation constraints, thanks to the wide lens shift range. Its low latency and 2K/240p input also make it a relevant choice for gaming enthusiasts on a large screen.

What to check before buying used
It is worth asking the seller how many hours the laser unit has been used, even though the BLU-Escent source ages better than a traditional lamp: beyond several thousand hours, the stated brightness may decline. Also check that the motorised zoom and lens shift function correctly, as well as the ventilation, whose noise can increase as the filter becomes dirty. Finally, testing the HDMI, LAN and RS-232 ports ensures that no input is faulty.
