Description
The Ci3160RLM THX is an in-wall speaker designed by KEF for integration into a home cinema system. It features the 12th generation Uni-Q coaxial driver, equipped with Metamaterial Absorption Technology (MAT), and carries THX Ultra certification.
The Uni-Q point source acts as a single sound source, distributing sound more evenly throughout the room and widening the optimal listening area. The Metamaterial absorber, positioned behind the tweeter, limits parasitic resonances originating from behind the dome. Two 6.5 inch (160 mm) hybrid aluminium woofers handle the low frequencies, supported by a 160 mm midrange and a 25 mm Uni-Q/Meta tweeter. The frequency response extends from 43 Hz to 28 kHz, with a nominal impedance of 4 Ω and a sensitivity of 89 dB. The precision-machined 5.5 mm thick aluminium baffle is designed to limit vibrations and provide a stable foundation for the drivers. A paintable magnetic metal grille and an optional black fabric grille allow the speaker to be adapted to its surroundings.
This model is aimed at demanding home cinema installations, whether a dedicated room or a living room, seeking discreet in-wall integration without compromising on sound accuracy. THX Ultra certification and the recommended amplification of 50 to 350 W make it a choice for large-scale multichannel configurations.

What to check before buying used
On an in-wall speaker of this type, attention should be paid to the condition of the metal grille and its magnetic fitting system, as well as the integrity of the aluminium baffle and its mounting fixings. Also check for any deformation or play in the woofers and the Uni-Q module, particularly if the speaker has been removed from an existing wall installation.
