Description
The KC92 is a compact subwoofer from KEF, designed to complement a stereo or home cinema system without taking up much space. Its sealed enclosure allows it to deliver deep bass while keeping a small footprint, suited to rooms of 10 to 100 m².
It houses two 220 mm Uni-Core drivers mounted back to back, a configuration that cancels reactive forces and limits vibrations transmitted to the cabinet or floor. The Class D amplification delivers 2 x 500 watts, for a total peak power of 1000 watts, and the cabinet can handle sound levels of up to 110 dB despite its compact size. The frequency response extends from 11 Hz to 200 Hz, with an adjustable crossover frequency between 40 Hz and 140 Hz to fine-tune integration with the rest of the system. Connectivity includes a switchable line/LFE RCA input, a filtered line output and a high-level speaker input.

What to check before buying used
On an active subwoofer such as the KC92, the built-in Class D amplifier warrants a thorough functional check, particularly power-up behaviour and performance at high volume, to rule out any risk of distortion or protection cut-out. Also check the condition of the RCA connectors and the high-level speaker input, as well as the proper operation of the crossover frequency and level controls.
