Description
The KEF LS50 Wireless II is a wireless active speaker, designed to form a complete hi-fi system on its own, without a separate amplifier or source. It integrates the amplification electronics, signal processing and streaming modules directly within the speaker.
It is built around KEF's Uni-Q coaxial technology, which places the tweeter at the centre of the mid/bass driver: this arrangement brings the treble and bass emission points closer together for a more coherent sound image. Amplification is dedicated to each driver, with 380 W for the bass driver and 100 W for the tweeter, giving each transducer its own power reserve. Frequency response extends from 40 Hz to 47 kHz (−6 dB), and the speaker can play audio files up to 384 kHz / 24-bit, as well as MQA and DSD256 formats.
On the wireless side, it supports AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Roon Ready, Bluetooth and Spotify Connect, allowing streaming from numerous sources and apps without additional cabling.

What to check before buying used
With this type of active speaker, the built-in electronics (amplification, DSP, streaming modules) are worth testing under real conditions before purchase: check that all inputs and wireless connections (AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Bluetooth) work correctly. Also check the condition of the Uni-Q drivers, in particular the absence of unwanted noise or distortion at high volume. Make sure the firmware can be updated, as these connected speakers regularly receive software updates from the manufacturer.
