Description
The LSX II LT is a pair of active, connected bookshelf speakers, designed by KEF as a streamlined version of the LSX II. Each speaker houses its own amplification, removing the need for a separate amplifier and allowing digital or analogue sources to be connected directly.
The Uni-Q driver combines a 19 mm aluminium dome tweeter with a 115 mm aluminium/magnesium alloy midrange-woofer on a single axis, a coaxial arrangement that widens the optimal listening area within the room. Amplification is split between the two transducers, with 70 W dedicated to the woofer-midrange and 30 W to the tweeter, for a maximum output level of 102 dB. On the streaming side, the network platform accepts streams up to 24-bit/384 kHz, while the optical and USB-C inputs support up to 24-bit/96 kHz and the HDMI input up to 16-bit/48 kHz; the wired link between the two speakers resamples all sources to 24-bit/96 kHz PCM.
This wide range of connectivity, HDMI ARC for the television, USB-C for a computer, optical input, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, is aimed at those who want to centralise several audio and video sources around a single compact pair of speakers, without multiplying the number of devices. A dedicated subwoofer output also allows the bass register to be extended if needed.
Available in three matte satin tone-on-tone finishes, the LSX II LT features a rear panel and vents matched to the colour of the Uni-Q driver, for a pair of speakers with a clean and cohesive design.

What to check before buying used
Active amplified speakers age mainly at the level of the built-in electronics: each channel (woofer-midrange and tweeter) should be tested separately to detect any amplification fault specific to one of the two speakers. Also check that the wireless connections (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth) and the wired link between the two speakers work properly, along with recognition of the HDMI ARC and USB-C inputs. Visually and physically checking the vents and Uni-Q diaphragms allows any deformation or abnormal play to be identified.
