Description
The KEF XIO is a 5.1.2-channel soundbar designed for the reproduction of multichannel content at home. It supports Dolby Atmos and DTS:X formats, as well as Sony 360 Reality Audio, allowing it to deliver immersive sound mixes for film, music or video games from a single speaker.
The miniaturised Uni-Q MX driver equips this soundbar: its design separates the delivery of low and high frequencies, contributing to greater precision in sound reproduction across the entire listening room.
The XIO also incorporates two P185 bass drivers, mounted face to face. This opposed configuration cancels out the vibrations generated by each driver, thereby reducing distortion and allowing for deep bass without unwanted colouration.
A sensor built into the P185 driver implements VECO velocity control technology: it monitors the movement of the diaphragm in real time and corrects the signal to maintain bass clarity, regardless of the volume level required.
This soundbar is aimed at those who want a compact home cinema system capable of delivering immersive multichannel sound without multiple satellite speakers, whether for watching films, listening to music or gaming.

What to check before buying used
As the bar is supplied as a single 1.21 m unit with no separate subwoofer, it is worth checking for cracks or impact marks on the cabinet and the driver protection grille, which is particularly exposed at the sides. The two opposed P185 transducers should be tested at high volume to ensure the VECO sensor is working correctly and that no vibration or unwanted noise appears in the bass. It is also recommended to check the HDMI eARC connector and rear ports, as these sockets are used every time the unit is connected.
