Kelinac KCE-5

The KCE 5 from Kelinac is a shielded centre speaker designed to occupy the central position of a home cinema system or a multichannel hi-fi installation. It handles the reproduction of dialogue and the centre channel voice, while integrating with a set of satellite or bookshelf speakers.

The cabinet is made from 19 mm thick MDF, a choice that ensures high rigidity and limits unwanted cabinet vibrations. The genuine cherry veneer finish covers all surfaces, including the inside of the cabinet, which helps prevent the wood from warping over time. Internal damping is provided by 20 mm felt, intended to absorb standing waves within the volume.

The 13 cm woofer/midrange uses a Carbon-Kevlar diaphragm, a composite material valued for its clear, dynamic reproduction with minimal distortion. The 25 mm titanium dome tweeter completes the set thanks to its lightness, rigidity and high propagation speed, qualities that favour precision at the top of the spectrum. Crossover between the two drivers is handled by a second-order Linkwitz-Riley filter (12 dB/octave), with a crossover frequency set at 3500 Hz.

The internal wiring is run point-to-point, with connections using 2 x 2.5 mm² OFC cable, and the crossover capacitors are SCR polypropylene models. The rear terminal block allows bi-wiring, offering the possibility of separating the connections to the woofer/midrange and the tweeter.

This centre speaker is aimed at a user wishing to complete a home cinema system or a high-fidelity multichannel configuration with a carefully designed centre channel, combining rigid construction with well-considered crossover components.
