The Heresy IV belongs to Klipsch's Heritage range, a line of speakers handmade in Hope, Arkansas. It is a 3-way floorstanding speaker built around Tractrix horn technology, an architecture that acoustically loads the midrange and treble to improve efficiency and precision of sound dispersion.
The bass is handled by a 305 mm K-28-E woofer with a composite fibre cone, paired with a rear Tractrix port that deepens bass reproduction. The midrange relies on a K-702 compression driver with a polyimide diaphragm, loaded by a K-704 Tractrix horn, while the treble is delivered by a titanium diaphragm compression tweeter, also mounted on a Tractrix horn. This three-compression-driver architecture explains the high sensitivity of 99 dB (2.83 V / 1 m), which allows the speaker to deliver significant sound levels with little electrical power. The 8 Ω impedance and power handling of 100 W continuous (400 W peak) make it compatible with a wide range of amplifiers. The frequency response extends from 48 Hz to 20 kHz (±4 dB).

What to check before buying used
The K-28-E woofer suspensions deserve close inspection: sagging, tearing or a musty smell indicate a cone worn by age or humidity.
