The Heritage active DSP is a signal processing module offered as an option for the Klipschorn AK7 and La Scala AL6 floorstanding speakers. It shares the same technological base as the active processor used on the Klipsch Jubilee speakers, but differs through firmware specifically designed for these two Heritage models.
This processor acts directly on the speaker's crossover filter. It analyses the horn throat depth as well as the wavelength of the signal, then deliberately delays the signal sent to certain drivers. The aim is for all the frequencies emitted by the different transducers to reach the listener's ears at the same instant, which corrects the time misalignments inherent to the horn-loaded design of the Klipschorn and La Scala.
Alongside this time alignment, the Heritage active DSP works on phase, frequency amplification and equalisation. This combined work aims for a more neutral and precise frequency response, intended to reveal the sonic potential specific to each speaker model concerned.
This module is intended for owners of the Klipschorn AK7 or La Scala AL6 wishing to refine the sound coherence of their speakers through digital processing designed specifically for these models, rather than a generic passive filter.
What to check before buying used
Check that the embedded firmware matches the associated speaker model (Klipschorn AK7 or La Scala AL6), as a mismatch would throw off the entire time alignment of the filter. Check that all the module's inputs and outputs work correctly, along with the condition of the connectors, with no play or oxidation. Ask whether a firmware update has already been applied and whether the original settings have been altered, as changed parameters may require a reset.
