Klipsch R-50M

The R-50M is a bookshelf speaker from Klipsch, designed to fit into a compact living space while delivering refined sound reproduction. It can function as the main speaker of a small stereo system, or as a surround channel within a larger home cinema setup, particularly alongside other Reference Premiere models.

The hybrid Tractrix horn, made from silicone composite and oriented 90° x 90°, directs high frequencies towards the listening area while limiting loss of detail. It works alongside a titanium diaphragm tweeter with Linear Travel Suspension (LTS), a technology designed to reduce distortion, and a new vented tweeter housing that dampens standing waves responsible for unwanted harmonics. The woofer, made from spun-copper Cerametallic, brings rigidity and lightness to limit distortion at midrange and bass frequencies. The Tractrix port, fitted with internal flares, smooths the airflow from the cabinet to reduce port noise at low frequencies.

In terms of figures, the R-50M offers a power handling of 75 W (300 W peak), a sensitivity of 92 dB/W/m and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms. Its frequency response extends from 58 Hz to 21 kHz (+/- 3 dB), with a crossover frequency of 1560 Hz. Each speaker weighs 5 kg with dimensions of 178 x 354 x 229 mm (w x h x d).

This model is aimed at a user looking for a compact speaker capable of covering a modestly sized living room in a stereo configuration, or complementing an existing home cinema setup in a surround position. The 5-way binding posts, compatible with banana plugs or bare wire up to 12 gauge, make connection to an amplifier or AV receiver straightforward.
