Description
The Klipsch THX-6000 is a bookshelf speaker from Klipsch's professional range, designed for use as an LCR channel (left, centre, right) within a home cinema system. Its THX certification attests to a strict technical specification, geared towards the reproduction of film soundtracks and musical content with good tonal consistency.
It features two 165 mm Cerametallic midrange/woofer drivers paired with a 25 mm titanium dome tweeter mounted on a Tractrix horn, a combination aimed at controlled sound dispersion and a stated frequency response of 48 Hz to 20 kHz (+/-3 dB). With a sensitivity of 97 dB (2.83 V at 1 m) and a nominal impedance of 8 ohms, it can be paired with moderately powered amplifiers while still delivering a high sound level. The rated power handling of 150 W RMS, with a peak of 600 W, allows for dynamic passages without placing excessive strain on the transducers. The MDF cabinet and bass-reflex loading contribute to mechanical rigidity and bass extension.
This speaker is aimed at home cinema or multichannel installations requiring discreet wall or ceiling mounting, thanks to its dedicated mounting system and its Omni-Mount suspension points compatible with standard mounting hardware. What to check before buying used
When buying used, it is worth checking the condition of the Cerametallic drivers, in particular the absence of tears or sagging in the surrounds, as well as the integrity of the titanium tweeter dome, which is sensitive to impacts. The wall-mounting system on the back should be checked to ensure it has not been forced or damaged during a previous installation. The aluminium finish on the front may also show micro-scratches or signs of use that should be examined before purchase.
