Description
The Consonance Turandot MKII is a high-fidelity CD player designed by Opera Audio, operating with 24-bit oversampling. It reflects a carefully considered design approach, combining component selection and construction techniques aimed at optimising audio reproduction.
The unit is built around two separate power supplies, one per section, in order to isolate the digital and analogue circuits. The disc loading mechanism is shared with that developed for the Droplet CDP5.0 model: it is a graphite sandwich-type platter, designed to limit vibrations in the mechanism and ensure greater playback stability. The player also incorporates a reference clock (super clock) which, according to the manufacturer, helps reduce digital distortion and approach the theoretical minimum jitter for a 16-bit signal.
On the digital connectivity side, the Turandot MKII accepts a signal from the manufacturer's own high-definition D-linear7 interface, as well as from other CD transports, cable television decoders or satellite receivers, via its coaxial or optical inputs, or from any device with a PCM digital output.

The loading tray and optical block deserve priority checking: hesitant ejection or difficulty reading certain discs often indicate a worn laser. Checking playback across the entire surface of a disc, including towards the end of the programme, helps identify wear on the graphite platter or misalignment of the mechanism.
