Description
The Lumin D3 is a network streamer designed for high-resolution audio playback via Ethernet connection or USB storage. It fits into a hi-fi system as a digital source, replacing or complementing a CD player, and provides access to locally stored audio files or compatible streaming services.
The digital-to-analogue converter is built around an ESS Sabre 32 ES9028Pro chip, paired with an analogue output stage. This configuration allows playback of DSD files up to DSD256 (1 bit, stereo) and PCM files up to 384 kHz at 16 to 32 bits, with an upsampling option to these formats for all files played. The BNC-SPDIF digital output supports PCM from 44.1 kHz to 192 kHz (16 to 24 bits) as well as DSD via DoP at 2.8 MHz.
Connectivity includes an RJ45 network input, two USB ports for storage, stereo RCA and stereo XLR analogue outputs, and a BNC digital output. The D3 is compatible with several network streaming protocols, including TIDAL Connect, AirPlay 2, Roon Ready and Spotify Connect.
This network player is aimed at digital music enthusiasts wanting a dedicated source for high-resolution streaming, in a setup where the balanced XLR output allows a balanced connection to an amplifier or preamplifier.
