Lumin U2 Mini

The Lumin U2 Mini is a network transport, also known as a streamer, designed to retrieve music from a home network or USB storage and pass it on to an external digital-to-analogue converter. It has no onboard conversion: its role is to act as a digital source, ahead of a separately chosen DAC.

The unit features new hardware and software processing, inherited from the system developed for the U1 Mini, with adjustable upsampling and downsampling from 44.1 kHz up to 384 kHz or DSD256, and native playback of DSD512 as well as DoP. It also plays PCM up to 32-bit/768 kHz, FLAC, ALAC, WAV and AIFF formats, MQA, as well as compressed MP3 and AAC files. Five separate digital outputs, coaxial, BNC, optical, AES/EBU and USB, allow it to be paired with DACs fitted with a variety of connections, with USB now also accepting DSD512. A quadruple low-noise clock and a shielded switch-mode power supply aim to limit sources of jitter and electrical noise on the transmitted signal.

Control is via the Lumin app, available on Android, iOS and iPadOS, or via Roon, with direct access to Qobuz, Tidal, Spotify and web radio, as well as AirPlay 2 compatibility for streaming from an Apple device.

This network transport is aimed at owners of a quality external DAC wishing to modernise their digital source without changing their converter, as well as users of Roon ecosystems or multiple streaming services looking for well-executed network integration.
